The Pinchot Family Legacy

Take a guided tour of his family’s historic chateauesque mansion designed by Richard Morris Hunt. And, bask in the beautifully landscaped gardens and outbuildings, many of which were designed by Chester Holmes Aldrich.
No visit to Grey Towers is complete without a stop at the estate’s most unique feature, the Finger Bowl, designed by William Lawrence Bottomley. The Finger Bowl is an exquisite outdoor dining table in the form of a raised pool surrounded by a flat ledge large enough to accommodate a place setting. Chairs were pulled up to the pool and food was passed in wooden bowls floated on the water. The Finger Bowl is situated in a wisteria covered domed arbor resting on an open structure of twelve stone piers.
Fine Dining
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, Milford offers a fine selection of restaurants and cafes to satisfy your hunger.
The Waterwheel is a favorite neighborhood haunt for locals, tourists and visitors. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. And, they feature a fun live blues jam every Thursday evening!
The Hotel Fauchère.
In the heart of Milford is the historic Hotel Fauchère, originally owned and operated by master chef Louis Fauchère, who once worked at Delmonico´s, the first and most famous restaurant in America in the mid 19th century.
Since 1899 Old Hickory Furniture Company has been handcrafting heirloom-quality furniture and accents in the heartland of America. Old Hickory is known for its quality, durability, sustainability and rustic comfort.
Back when it began, Old Hickory furnished nearly all of America’s national parks, including the Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone National Park. The dining chairs in the main hall are the very same chairs shipped and installed in 1906!
Bring the outdoors inside with Old Hickory’s unique heirloom-quality rustic furniture.
Today’s Old Hickory combines designs from the company’s history with more contemporary styles for your home. Yet the process of handcrafting each piece remains very much the same. Attention to detail, careful matching of parts, assembly with mortise and tenon, and the meticulous hand weaving process, make Old Hickory Furniture’s products unique, comfortable and durable.
After 100 years, old-fashioned care continues at Old Hickory Furniture Company, the home of America’s genuine, original furniture.
And, Van Gorders’ Furniture is proud to bring you this unique American-made classic. So stop by during March for some power browsing in each of our showrooms, and enjoy 30% off Old Hickory furniture!
